‘I-proof read naman’: Makabayan bloc hits tanim tarpaulin modus

Members of the Makabayan bloc condemned the alleged tanim tarpaulin modus of law enforcers to link them to the New Peoples Army (NPA).

Gabriela Women’s party-list has disowned the tarpaulins with the slogan “Para sa Babe, Bata at Bayan” as such slogan digresses from our original slogan “Para sa Babae, Bata at Bayan.”

“Maybe the police officers have been so accustomed to using “babe” in their flirtatious relations with several women, or they were rushing to print the fake tarps ahead of our own printing without diligent proofreading,” Gabriela said in a statement.

Gabriela also lamented the use of public funds to distort and misrepresent their advocacy for women and children.

Police said the tarpaulins of Gabriela and Bayan Muna were recovered from arrested NPA rebels in operations in Quezon City and Bulacan recently.

House Deputy Minority Leader and Bayan Muna Rep. Carlos Isagani Zarate said the group will use all legal means possible to make those accountable in “this vicious, relentless and malicious vilification campaign” accountable.

“Sana kung magtanim tarpaulin naman itong mga pulis para lang magpakitang gilas, i-proof read naman nila ang text ng tarp,” Zarate added. “Sa katunayan, mas nauna pa silang nagpaprint ng tarp kesa sa Bayan Muna.”

Zarate said this modus is part of the “sinister playbook” of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) to link the Makabayan bloc to the arrested alleged members of the underground movement.

“Sa kagustuhang iugnay ang Bayan Muna sa mga rebelde ay mukhang mga pulis na mismo ang nagpaprint ng mga poster namin. Gasgas na ang gimik na ito at dati na nilang ginagawa. Nasasayang talaga ang pera ng taumbayan sa ganitong modus ng administrasyong Duterte,” Zarate added.
