PH may reopen to fully vaxxed tourists from ‘green’ countries next week: DOT chief

By Prince Golez

The Philippines may allow the entry of fully vaccinated tourists from green list countries or those classified by the Department of Health as low-risk for Covid-19 by next week, Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat said.

“We’re hoping by next week, pinag-uusapan naman ang mag detalye kung sinu-sino at ano ang mag kundisyon para makapagpasok galing sa green-list countires at we hope we’d be able to implement it soon,” Romulo-Puyat said during a Laging Handa public briefing Monday.

The Department of Tourism (DOT) chief said the guidelines for tourists coming from low-risk areas will be finalized this week.

“Nagsimula na sila mag-usap tungkol dito sa mga detalye last Friday. Hopefully by this week ma-approve na pati ‘yung mga kondisyon, at we can implement it soon, para naman kapag Pasko masaya na,” she added.

Fully vaccinated travelers from green-list countries do not need to take a swab test upon arrival in the Philippines. They also not required to undergo facility-based quarantine.

Passengers should only present a negative swab test result taken within 72 hours of the scheduled departure.
