President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday called the first wave of the government’s Bayanihan, Bakunahan program “highly successful.”
Duterte said the three-day massive national Covid-19 vaccination drive from November 29 to December 1 brought the country closer to its goal of population protection.
It also demonstrated remarkable feats the nation can achieve if it is united and works in solidarity, the President said in a message read by acting presidential spokesperson Karlo Nograles during the culmination activity of the Bayanihan, Bakunahan: National Vaccination Days held in Mandaluyong City.
“This huge success was made possible by our frontliners, government agencies, local government units, private partners and the general public who worked together to vaccinate millions of Filipinos throughout the country,” said Duterte.
“We honor your heroism,” he also said.
A total of 8,014,751 vaccine shots were administered during the three-day period.
