Guanzon: Vote even if you’re not vaccinated

Voters who have received not their coronavirus shots could still cast their ballot on election day.

Commission on Elections (Comelec) commissioner Rowena Guanzon mentioned that vaccination isn’t a requirement for voters in her latest post on Twitter. An isolated polling place, however, will be established for voters who may present COVID-19 symptoms on the day of the elections.

“Vote even if you are not vaccinated @COMELEC. If u have symptoms when at the precint, you will vote in the isolated polling place.your vote will be counted,” she tweeted on December 4, 2021.

Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez earlier said it was unlikely that voters will be required to be fully vaccinated to be able to vote in the May 2022 elections. Imposing such vaccine requirement is unconstitutional, Jimenez said.

The poll body earlier said there are 65.5 million registered voters for the 2022 elections. More than 8 million voters have been added to the list during the registration period.
