Zamboanga Archbishop Romulo dela Cruz has passed away this Friday (Dec. 10), the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) said.
The CBCP said in its news website that the 74-year old prelate passed away at the Zamboanga Doctor’s Hospital where he was taken after experiencing very low blood pressure and slight fever.
It said the dela Cruz had previously suffered from a stroke.
Dela Cruz, who was ordained as a priest in 1972 at the Archdiocese of Cotabato, had been appointed as archbishop of Zamboanga back in 2014.
Prio his appointment as archbishop, dela cruz was bishops of the dioceses of Isabela in 1987, San Jose de Antique in 2002 and Kidapawan in 2008.
