May igaganda pa! Tito Sotto: Duterte wants laws vs red tape, ease of doing business amended

President Rodrigo Duterte wants Congress to amend laws against red tape and ease of doing business, Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III said Thursday (September 17).

Sotto said Duterte is willing to be summoned to the Senate or House of Representatives to speak on changes he wants to be made to the two laws.

“I told him the better word is invite, but only if necessary,” Sotto told reporters in a text message.

Sotto met Duterte in Malacanang Wednesday (September 16) together with Senator Bong Go, House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano and House Majority Leader Ferdinand Martin Romualdez.

Go earlier said it was Duterte who called for the meeting, which lasted for around 45 minutes. He said measures to shorten government processes were discussed, with the aim of cutting red tape and corruption.

Sotto said he promised to send Duterte in advance a copy of the bill that the Senate will file in coordination with the House of Representatives.
