Still no flattening of curve: PH among countries with highest COVID-19 cases

The spread of COVID-19 in the Philippines has yet to be contained, six months after a strict lockdown was imposed in Metro Manila and certain parts of the country.

Real-time statistics from the website, worldometers.info showed the Philippines as the fifth country with the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the world as of September 15, 9 a.m.

Latest data from the government showed there were 265,888 COVID-19 cases in the Philippines. Topping the list of countries with the highest number of COVID-19 infections was India at 4.9 million, followed by the United States with 6.7 million. Brazil was in third place with 4.3 million, followed by Argentina with 565,446 cases.

A record 259 fatalities were recorded by the Department of Health on September 14, resulting in a total of 4,630.

Metro Manila remains the region with the highest number of new infections at 1,498. It is followed by Cavite with 221, Bataan with 198, Bulacan with 185, and Batangas with 176.
