Philippines allows re-entry for aliens who left after Dec. 16

By Prince Golez

The government’s coronavirus (Covid-19) task force has allowed foreigners with valid and existing visas, who left the Philippines beginning December 17, 2020, to return to the country subject to several conditions.

According to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF), in its 89th meeting, eased re-entry procedures for foreign nationals who wish to fly to the Philippines.

“[They] allowed the re-entry to the Philippines of foreign nationals with valid and existing visas under Section 9(e) and 9(g) of Commonwealth Act No. 613, as amended, who are already in the country and will be leaving the country starting December 17, 2020,” Roque said in a statement Friday.

The following conditions, however, must be satisfied:

  • They must have a valid and existing visa on the date of the arrival
  • They must have a pre-booked quarantine facility
  • They must have a pre-booked COVID-19 testing at a laboratory operating at the airport; and
  • They must be subject to the maximum capacity of inbound passengers at the port and date of entry

The Palace official said the IATF also directed the Bureau of Immigration to issue the guidelines to implement such rules on foreign nationals.

The task force earlier allowed the entry to the Philippines of foreign spouses and children of Filipinos, as well as former Filipino citizens and their families. The decision took effect December 7.
