Soldiers posing behind Jevilyn Cullamat’s remains ‘wrong’ – Lorenzana

By Prince Golez

Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana does not approve of soldiers posing for a photo behind the dead body of communist rebel medic Jevilyn Cullamat.

In an interview on CNN Philippines’s The Source Wednesday, Lorenzana said posing for photos before the Cullamat’s remains was “wrong.”

“I do not approve of that action. Hindi dapat gawin yun. Maybe they could pose behind firearms or any other equipment but not behind bodies of fallen fighters,” the secretary said.

“We are coming up with directives to the troops not to do this again. Kung puwede lang ‘wag munang i-publish ang mukha until such time that we are able to turn over the remains to the families or to anybody who will claim the body,” he added.

Cullamat’s mother, Bayan Muna Representative Eufemia Cullamat earlier said the military desecrated the remains of her daughter and treated her as a war trophy.
