Nancy Binay dismayed with delay in vaccine delivery: Puro tayo practice pero wala pa rin bakuna

Senator Nancy Binay is disappointed that the country still has not received the first batch of coronavirus vaccines.

Binay took to Twitter to express dismay that the government has not been able to give an exact date not the arrival of the vaccines secured from suppliers abroad. The only thing certain is no date has been set on the delivery of the vaccines, she said.

“Nakakailang araw na tayong kaka-practice pero wala pa rin yung bakuna and they can’t give us a definite date when it is coming,” she tweeted on Saturday, February 20.

She said the government has yet to sign any supply agreement with the vaccine manufacturers. The government has so far been able to ink “term sheets” or the promise to provide supply to the country.

“The mere fact na we only have term sheets at the moment, wala pa tayong supply agreement na pinipirmahan, the delivery of the vaccine will always be a question,” she said.

“At this point, ang sigurado lang ay hindi sigurado kung kailan dadating ‘yung bakuna,” the senator said.

The government announced the initial supply of Pfizer vaccines under COVAX facility will arrive mid-February. The delivery however was disrupted when Pfizer sought an indemnity or no-fault clause in the supply deal in case Filipino beneficiaries suffer negative side effects from the vaccines.
