Malacañang on Friday welcomed the appointment of Capiz Cardinal Jose Advincula as the new archbishop of Manila.
This, after Pope Francis announced Advincula’s appointment in Rome Thursday.
“Binabati po natin ang bago at ika-33 Arsobispo ng Maynila, his Eminence Jose F. Advincula,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said.
“Congratulations to Cardinal Advincula as he begins his mission as a new Archbishop of Manila,” added Roque.
Advincula replaced Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, who was named by Pope Francis as Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples in the Vatican in December 2019.
