‘Wag mag-panic! COVID hospitals not yet at full capacity, says Palace

By Prince Golez

Malacañang clarified on Monday that healthcare facilities receiving patients with coronavirus disease (Covid-19) have not reached full capacity.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque was responding to circulating posts that hospitals were already full past capacity because of rising cases of Covid-19.

“Puno na ba ang ospital natin? Hindi pa po. Meron pa tayong 60 percent available na ICU beds, meron pa tayong 65 percent available na isolation beds, meron pa tayong 75 percent available na ward beds, at 77 percent available ventilators,” Roque said in a televised briefing.

The secretary assured the public that there is no need to panic because the country has improved its healthcare capacity during Covid-19 lockdown.

“Dapat bang mag panic. Hindi po. Bakit? Dahil nga po tayo ay nagsarado para i-improve ang ating kakayahan na gamutin ang mga seryosong magkakasakit,” he added.
