President Rodrigo Duterte has instructed local chief executives to speed up the release of aid to individuals in communities affected by the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), Malacañang said.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque was reacting to the move of some local government units to distribute financial aid through house-to-house visits.
“Nakiusap na po ang ating Presidente sa ating mga mayor. Ang importante po dahil hindi nga nakakapagtrabaho ang ilan sa ating mga kababayan,” Roque said during his televised address Tuesday.
“Sana po mapabilisan hangga’t maaari ang pagbibigay ng ayuda, bagama’t naiintindihan din ni Presidente ang mga pagsubok diyan dahil nga po iniiwasan natin ang pagtitipun-tipon ng ating mga kababayan,” he added.
Under the recent dole out program, low-income individuals in the Greater Manila Area will receive cash or in-kind assistance of P1,000 each or up to a maximum of P4,000 for a family.
