Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) President Domingo Egon Cayosa hailed the arrest made by Philippine National Police (PNP) of a former policeman suspected in the killing of a lawyer in 2019.
“We congratulate and thank the Philippine National Police for the arrest of Benito Sarcilla Julian, Jr., on May 14, 2021 in Sorsogon City for the murder of Atty. Adilberto V. Golla, Jr. on May 17, 2019 at Eastwood Greenview Subd., Brgy. San Isidro, Rodriguez, Rizal,” he said in a statement.
“The arrest of accused Julian who is an AWOL police officer happens as newly designated PNP Chief Guillermo Eleazar intensifies the campaign to rid the PNP of scalawags,” he added.
Cayosa said that “IBP supports the conduct of follow-up investigations and operations to ferret out the mastermind and the conspirators of the arrested accused.”
“The cooperation and collaboration between the IBP and PNP in the Lawyer Security and Justice Program continues to produce positive results and contributes to the bigger justice bilis campaign,” he pointed out.
Aside from the PNP, Cayosa has been engaged in dialogue with the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Supreme Court (SC) in addressing the unabated killings of lawyers.
