Four important measures must be carried out to plug the country’s surging coronavirus cases.
Health reform advocate Dr. Tony Leachon said the country must step up testing, tracing and vaccination efforts to curb the coronavirus cases affecting Filipinos. More coronavirus vaccines must also be purchased to convince Filipinos to get inoculated following reports of vaccine hesitancy.
Leachon, a former adviser of the national task force fighting the pandemic, admitted the country continued to face a difficult coronavirus situation.
“We should focus on the COVID numbers.
We are definitely not out of the woods,” he tweeted.
“We need : 1. Mass testings. 2. Contact tracings. 3. Rapid vaccination of the NCR plus.
- Fast track the procurement of other vaccines to enhance portfolio to reduce vaccine hesitancy,” he said.
More than 1.178 million people have been infected with the coronavirus in the country despite government’s claims of its supposed “excellent” handling of the pandemic. Of this number, around 54,000 are active cases. More than 19,000 people have died from the coronavirus in the country.
The government has often downplayed the coronavirus numbers, saying the country was faring better than rich nations with better health care systems.
We should focus on the COVID numbers.
