Chel Diokno mourns Noynoy’s passing: He served our country well

Free Legal Assistance Group (FLAG) chairman Chel Diokno on Thursday (June 24) joined other personalities in mourning over the passing of former President Benigno Aquino III.

“Salamat at paalam, PNoy,” read Diokno’s latest social media post.

Diokno said Aquino “served our country well, uplifted the lives of many Filipinos, and gave us a reason to dream of a better future.”

“Rest In Peace and enjoy heavenly bliss, which you richly deserve,” the lawyer stated.

Diokno remembered when he and Aquino would both talk about their fathers, late former senators Jose Diokno and Benigno Aquino Jr.

“I remember how you stayed for more than an hour at Mom’s wake, reminiscing about our dads’ imprisonment,” the lawyer noted.

“How, in private moments, you would often talk about our parents, and their detention in Laur,” he added.
