Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo welcomed the plan of the government to vaccinate the pediatric sector or persons 17 years old and below in the coming months.
Vaccinating the pediatric sector against Covid-19 would help the country reach herd immunity, Panelo said during his online commentary show “Counterpoint.”
“Hindi natin maa-attain ‘yung ating goal na herd immunity kung iyang mga iyan eh hindi pa nababakuhanan,” according to the abogado.
“Hindi natin matitigil ‘yung pag-spread o pagkalat ng coronavirus kung merong isang malaking bahagi sa populasyon natin, kagaya niyang sinasabing mga batang iyan na 29 million. Malaking bahagi iyan,” he added.
Earlier, vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. said they are looking forward to the vaccination of the 29 million people belonging to the pediatric sector by September of October 2021.
The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine could be used to vaccinate children aged 12 to 15 years, added Galvez.
