Senators Panfilo Lacson and Vicente “Tito” Sotto III will formally launch their campaign for president and vice president, respectively, on September 8.
Lacson’s new party, Partido Reporma, uploaded a 35-second clip on Facebook with details about the event.
The former Philippine National Police chief can be heard saying in the clip that the launch will happen between 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. The event will be simulcast on various television and radio stations.
Lacson on Tuesday (August 24) said his and Sotto’s candidacies will push through despite President Rodrigo Duterte’s plan to run for vice president in 2022.
“It won’t matter to my and Senate President Sotto’s determination to run in the May 2022 national elections. We have already declared, and at this point in time, there is no turning back,” he said in a statement.
