The House of Representatives on Wednesday received a letter from President Rodrigo Duterte certifying the urgency to approve the 2022 General Appropriations Bill (GAB).
In his letter to Speaker Lord Allan Jay Velasco, Duterte emphasized the need to fund various programs, projects and activities for next year and ensure budgetary preparedness to enable the government to perform its constitutional mandate effectively.
The House started the plenary deliberation of the GAB (House Bill 10153) on September 21.
The certification gives the House the authority to approve the GAB on second and third reading in just one day. Bills not certified as urgent can be approved on third and final reading only three days after its second reading approval.
The House intends to approve the measure today, September 30, the last day of session before its adjournment.
