Haters gonna hate.
Embattled actress Toni Gonzaga has found an ally in the middle of a firestorm over her interview with former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
A government adviser has defended Toni from the deluge of bashing she got over the Marcos interview, asking why they were hating the tv host over it. Teddy Herbosa, a special adviser of the government’s National Task Force against COVID-19, wondered if Toni committed any wrongdoing for giving Marcos a space on her YouTube program.
“Bakit sila galit sa nag interview? May bawal ba sa ginawa niya?” Dr. Herbosa tweeted on Sept. 15, 2021.
Marcos, rumored to be eyeing the presidency in next year’s elections, is the latest politiko who appeared in Toni’s YouTube channel. The Kapamilya host became one of the trending topics online after releasing her interview with Marcos titled “The Greatest Lesson Bongbong Marcos Learned From His Father.” The video has so far earned more than 1.9 million views.
Critics however came out of the woodwork and slammed Toni for using her platform to interview son of the late dictator. Some felt the interview sought to whitewash the rights abuses committed during the 20-year authoritarian regime of the late President Ferdinand Marcos.
Toni, on the other hand, still has a team of supporters who defended the right to free speech as well as denounced critics who dictated their views on others.
