‘Uunahin natin ang trabaho’: Vico Sotto seeks another term as Pasig mayor

No need for drama or suspense.

Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto filed his candidacy for mayor in his hometown on Friday, seeking another term in office.

Vico’s parents actors Vic Sotto and Coney Reyes were present during his filing at the Commission on Elections’ office in Pasig City.

“Nag-file na po ako kaagad ng COC para tapos na, di naman kailangan ng drama at suspense Basta, panahon man ng pulitika o hindi, uunahin natin ang trabaho,” he said on Facebook.

The millennial politiko has earned praises for his strong anti-corruption advocacy during his first term as mayor of the city.

If elected as Pasig mayor again, Sotto promised to continue his reforms in cleaning up the bureaucracy and improving service to the people of the city. Big changes have been attained in the Pasig city government’s procurement during his term.

“Simula 2019, ang laki na ng pagbabagong naipakilala natin sa Pasig. Sa pagbubukas pa lang ng procurement/bidding, nasa 1 BILYON PISO KADA TAON ang binaba ng mga presyo ng mga binibili/pinapagawa ng LGU,” he said.

“Ngunit nahirapan tayo at maraming proyekto na naantala dahil sa pandemya. 9 months lang ako naging mayor sa normal na sitwasyon. Kaya sa susunod na term, magtulungan tayo para bawiin ang oras na ninakaw sa atin ng covid-19,” he said.

Sotto also appealed to the Pasig City voters — elect local officials with integrity.

“Bigyan niyo ako ng mga kasanggang MAPAGKAKATIWALAAN natin. Yung hindi puwesto o pera ang habol, kundi yung magiging katuwang ko para paigtingin pa ang mga reporma’t serbisyo ng pamahalaan,” he said.
