The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has deferred the decision to allow extended mall hours and weekend sales on days leading up to Christmas to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
During the Laging Handa briefing Monday, DILG Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya said the matter has yet to be discussed in the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases.
“Sa ngayon, wala pa pong pinag-uusapan sa mga extended mall hours. We will have to defer dito sa isyung ito sa DTI kasi sila ang gumagawa ng mga pamantayan natin in terms of mall operations,” according to Malaya.
Meanwhile, the DILG official said bazaars, tiangges and similar activities are allowed subject to minimum health protocols under the IATF regulations.
“Yung mga negosyante na gustong magbukas ng tiangge, they will have to coordinate with their local government units (LGUs), and ang mga LGUs, kailnagang mag monitor sa kanila kung sila ay papayagang mag operate ngayong kapaskuhan,” he also said.
