Senatorial aspirant Raffy Tulfo is among those who support the reopening of ABS-CBN broadcasting network to restore jobs for Filipinos.
Tulfo, a veteran broadcaster, said 10,000 ABS-CBN workers lost their jobs after the network was unable to renew its broadcast franchise.
“Of course. Kasi why I’m pro mga manggagawa na naapi, nawalan ng trabaho, na nadedehado,” he told ANC’s Headstart host Karen Davila when asked about his support for the ABS-CBN reopening.
“In this case I know mahigit 10,000 na empleyado ng ABS-CBN na nawalan ng trabaho because of that, ” the veteran broadcaster said.
Tulfo, a frontrunner in recent senatorial surveys, is concerned of the plight of these jobless Filipinos who take care of their family. “Paano na ‘yun? Na-stop na yun lahat.”
The Lopez-owned network, which came under fire from President Duterte, has been shut down since last year after Congress refused to renew its broadcasting franchise. Without a broadcast license, the company reduced its manpower and turned to digital space for its content production.
Tulfo, in the same interview, said he respected the right of persons who chose to unfollow him on YouTube over his stance on ABS-CBN. But he said he was misunderstood when he commented about the subscriber count of ABS-CBN Entertainment and the people who voted for President Duterte.
“Na-misunderstood nila ako — 36 million ng followers ng ABS-CBN Entertainment versus 16 million baka magkaclash pagdating ng time na idadaan sa referendum pagdating sa reopening ng ABS-CBN,” he said.
