Feeling hurt and tired, Bong Go admits it’s not yet time to seek presidency

On Bonifacio Day, a reluctant presidential bet made good on earlier vow to take the sacrifice.

Administration Senator Bong Go has decided to pull out his candidacy for the presidency, a few days after complaining about the difficulty of seeking the country’s top post.

“Ayaw rin talaga ng aking pamilya kaya naisip ko hindi ko pa po panahon sa ngayon. Diyos lang ang nakakalaam kung kailan talaga ang tamang panahon,” he announced on Tuesday, Novegebr 30, 2021.

Go admitted he has been hurt and tired following his unexpected presidential bid in next year’s elections. He was only compelled to run for president by his boss President Duterte after he backed out from the vice presidential race.

“In the past few days, I realized in my heart and my mind are contradicting my actions. Talagang nagre-resist po ang aking katawan, puso, at isipan. Tao lang po ako, nasasaktan at napapagod din,” he announced on Tuesday, November 30, 2021.

Go was originally supposed to run for vice president but backed out after the President’s daughter Davao City mayor Sara Duterte Carpio sought a national post. The senator, who became emotional, claimed his decision stemmed from his respect for the President and his family. Duterte however told Go not to cry and instead convinced him to seek the presidency.

In a recent statement, Go fueled speculations about a possible withdrawal from the presidential race after admitting he was still in shock over his unplanned bid. He had said he wait for the Lord’s sign on whether or not he will pursue his presidential run.
