Legarda mulls selling homegrown vegetables: Why not?

Imagine former Senator Loren Legarda a vegetable trader.

Legarda, now congresswoman of Antique province, is mulling over possibly selling her homegrown produce to the public.

The lawmaker, a known green advocate, has a vegetable garden at home. Her Instagram feed is filled with photos and videos of her plants and organic vegetables she has planted.

“What bountiful harvest we have today! Our blessed soil just keeps on producing organically grown, mindfully cared for, lovingly nourished vegetables, herbs and fruits that I used to buy, but no longer now!” Legarda said in a latest Instagram post.

Given her passion for environmental protection and urban gardening, Legarda has earned the reputation as a “Tindera ng gulay at diwata ng gubat.”

“I plant, harvest, share, gift, hmmm 🤔 maybe, I should consider selling my produce? A close friend calls me, tindera ng gulay at diwata ng gubat 🤣💐 haha, so, why not? #bountiful Sunday #grateful harvest 🥒🌽🍌🍀🥬🥦🥕🍍” she said.

Legarda, a former broadcast journalist, lives a green healthy lifestyle. She grows and eats organic vegetables. She even plans to show her homegrown cacao planted in the family garden.

“All #organic #igrowmyownfood except the fish 🐠 at least, not yet 😆 it’s really doable, inspiring, #sustainable 🥒🍌🌽 soon, I will show my #homegrown #cacao from a tree I planted years ago 👍 and #robusta coffee beans from tree to cup,” she said in another Instagram post.

She said her grandmother, a public school teacher and pharmacy owner, planted
coffee trees a long ago. She considers her lola Mameng who influenced her to be a nature lover.

“She loved cooking too, and was a #nature lover, that’s why I am such 💐 will tell you her story some other time,” she said.
