PCOO chief wishes Archbishop Palma’s speedy recovery from virus

By Prince Golez

Communications Secretary Martin Andanar is praying for the swift recovery of Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma who tested positive for Covid-19.

“We extend our prayers for the speedy recovery and good health of Cebu Archbishop Jose S. Palma following the unfortunate news that he had recently contracted Covid-19,” Andanar said in a statement Saturday.

The Archdiocese of Cebu announced Friday that Palma was found positive for the disease. The archbishop is currently confined at Perpetual Succour Hospital.

Andanar said he wished for Palma’s full recovery so he could continue fulfil his religious duties.

“May he recover swiftly so that he can continue to fulfill his religious obligations and be an inspiration to the Catholic community to keep up the fight against Covid-19 and help in our healing and recovery as one nation,” he added.

Palma, who also served as the president of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines, has been serving the country’s largest archdiocese since 2011.
