Ping hits back at Parlade for attack vs senators

Sen. Panfilo Lacson on Saturday hit back at National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) spokesman Lt. Gen. Antonio Parlade Jr. for his recent attacks against senators.

Lacson said the only consolation is that Parlade’s attitude does not represent the other members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

“If there is any consolation to the senators of this benighted land, arrogance and idiocy will never be doctrinal among the active members of the noble profession of arms,” he said on his Twitter account.

Parlade earlier called some senators stupid for considering defunding the NTF-ELCAC following his “political” statements, including those on community pantries.

Lacson had said he is no longer sure if he will still defend the budgets of the defense department and its attached agencies, including NTF-ELCAC, due to issues involving Parlade.

He said his defense committee had recommended Parlade’s relief as NTF-ELCAC spokesman as the Constitution does not allow an active military official to assume a civilian post. But the defense establishment ignored this recommendation.

“Unfortunately, the DND has openly ignored the Senate in that regard. Thus, I am not sure if I will still defend their budget this year with the same tenacity as I did the previous years – especially if the NTF-ELCAC spokesperson continues to threaten to affect its mission with uncalled-for statements,” he said in a statement last Thursday.
