Palace to ‘validate’ alleged gov’t neglect of witnesses vs De Lima

Malacañang on Monday said it will “validate” the claim made by retired PCSupt. Jerry Valeroso that they no longer receive government protection after testifying against Sen. Leila de Lima.

Valeroso alleged that the government neglected the witnesses in the illegal drugs case against the lady senator, who is currently detained inside the headquarters of the Philippine National Police in Quezon City.

“Iva-validate po natin yan dahil talaga namang napakalaki ng mga personalidad na nasa likod ni dating (Justice) Secretary Leila de Lima,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a virtual presser.

“So, kinakailangan talaga bigyan ng proteksyon ang mga tumestigo laban kay Senator Leila de Lima,” added Roque.

During the 2018 trial of de Lima’s drug cases, Valeroso said he witnessed how policemen inside the New Bilibid Prison connived with de Lima to sneak in illegal drugs into the prison compound.
