Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar called on members of the police force not to engage in partisan politics.
Those found campaigning for certain political parties will be sanctioned, Eleazar said in a statement Sunday.
“I am warning all our personnel not to meddle into political activities or do things that can be misconstrued as expressions of support to any candidate,” according to him.
“Mananagot sa akin ang sinumang makikisawsaw sa pulitika sa aming hanay,” he added.
The filing of certificates of candidacy for the May 2022 elections runs from October 1 to October 8.
